| [ | mood |
| | optimistic | ] | Been a while eh? Want to know what has happen? Well first go to livejournal.com/barrin6 and then go back to my 1st entry. Now read everything from start to finish, and you'll have what I've been doing the past few months that I haven't been updating this journal.
What does it take to become a winner? Being good at disciplining yourself? Knowing how to tilt control, pot control, gain value? Maybe it's learning how to hand read better...
But honestly, I don't even know the question.. nor does the majority of poker players know. To get good at poker, you're going to have to haul ass. And I'm way too lazy.
Well anyways.. I'm looking to start investing into some moolah that I've made from poker into something fun, called stocks, mutual funds and etc. It's nothing big though, only 3k, but at least it will teach me how to get money into investments.
As to what's happening in poker right now..
1. I have a bankroll for 2/4, but I rather stay at 1/2 2. I have a propbet with the one and only one carrotsnake. 3. I'm losing the propbet 4. Brag: We are only betting $500.
Propbet: I have 5.2k hands +$345 He has 9k hands 1.9k$
I lost 5 buyins in 1k today when I started to play pokerstars again. Now I cashed out my whole roll anyways from there.
And... that's about it. Hopefully to keep you updated. |

[Jun. 5th, 2007|11:19 pm] |
Hi again, Wow I haven't post in this Livejournal in such a longggg time. I completely forgot about it until T-god mentioned it to me. Alot of things changed since 2007 started. I'll catch up on it a little later. Anyways, just to let you guys know, I play a mix of nl 200, 400 and 600 games now a days. I'm heavily table selecting though.
Now if you guys don't mind. I'm going to rant for like 30 seconds.
The majority of Live Pro's need to seriously get over themselves. You guys play probably at the most 20k hands in your life time. Get over your self! Live Tells are overrated!
If you guys don't know, aba20 aka. sbrugby aka. Brain Townsend is playing Sammy Farhra in a mixed HU match. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=gossip&Number=10672639&page=0&fpart=1
And all I have to say is that sbrugby has a huge edge against this player.
Take a look at this article.. http://www.cardplayer.com/magazine/article/16465 I almost puked. This is the reason why poker is so profitable. People cannot admit that they have leaks in their game. When they luckbox the rest of the career, they are blinded by their results.
Lesson of the day: Don't play live. But if you do, please go play drunk. |

| End of the year 2006 |
[Dec. 28th, 2006|07:56 pm] |
| [ | mood |
| | depressed | ] | This month has been a shitty month. It has been filled with tilt, no discipline and bad play. Now I’m going to remove my whole roll from the pokersites and only leave a mere $500 and start over at nl 50. And if I can’t beat even nl 50 then I don’t know where to go. Hopefully things will change around next year.
Now for new years, I’m going to vegas, take some time off poker. Note, I’m not going to touch poker at Vegas. I’m on a tight budget, fees for the RV and fraternity are going to hit me hard.
I would write some more, but it hurts to write about this month. bleh Now happy new years and I hope everyone a good luck next year.

| Mid-month update |
[Dec. 15th, 2006|02:18 pm] |
As you all know, I'm on winter break, staying at home. Nothing to do but to grindddd poker. Last month has devasted my roll and so has the first week of december. Now that I got the hang of things, I'm hoping to increase my bankroll to 10k (10% change) by New Years. That also reminds me, I'm heading out to vegas in RV's with my fraternity which you could learn about more here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phi_Kappa_Psi .Not only that, but alot of guys from the #msnl are heading on over to play poker at vegas while my bros and I are going to do some deliquent activities in vegas. I might possibly hit up mason55 and take pictures with jfish and the famous CTS.Though I'm not the gambling age it should be a fun event nonetheless.
Now I have been receiving lots of smack talk about my fraternity. I get the same kind of stupid questions I get when people find out I play poker online. "How much you lose?" "Isn't this illegal?" "Dude you should quit" "You are a degenerative". But instead of those questions, I get "Did you have to do anything in to get into the frat?" "Did you do the elephant walk?". I don't know about you guys but it seems to me that everyone thinks of fraternities as slavery, where you get bitched and do stupid shit. Now don't get me wrong, I bet there are other fraternities that a person has to sit down and act like a bitch, but PLEASE don't assume every fraternity is that. Just because you had one bad experience with a fraternity when one douchebag starts shit with you, doesn't mean every fraternity is like that. There wouldn't be many different fraternities if they were all the same. So please just be a little open-minded when it comes to this.
This month so far was pretty crazy. I was hitting break even for like the past 2 weeks but now as you can see in the graph, I hit a 9 buyin up swing in just 300 hands. From that point on , everything starts to look well. Before that I was running 27/20 which was practically me bleeding chips. I learned a couple more things playing poker now. I learned alot during this course though. I'm starting to apply reads more more in situations such as knowing when to 3-bet in blinds out of position. Hopefully I can keep up my good run now that I'm playing 20/16ish.
Now for this months goal is to grind as many hands as I can. Which is tough since I'm at home now, not in my dorms. They kicked us out for winter break :(. But when I have time when my parents aren't watching, I'll be grinding.

I wish I had more time to write this entry as I could include more. Such as some college stories. But time is money, and money is time. |

[Dec. 3rd, 2006|12:39 pm] |
SO I donked off almost 1/4 of my roll. One thing I learn, Always drop levels when coming back to poker after a break. A good poker player knows when to move down limits.

| October Update |
[Oct. 31st, 2006|02:42 pm] |
I've been really busy lately since midterms and college. I'm still in the process of adapation from highschool to college. It's really wierd to have big tests come so soon. Only 2 tests will determine my grade, and I can't really mess up or I'm out.
This month I didn't play much. I did play some donkaments; I was able to place 1st out of a 180 man sng $20 at pokerstars for $1050 I think. That was my highlight for the month. In terms of cash games, I haven't done so well. Seems like I forgot the pure basics of no-limit hold-em, so I'm visitng the ssnl forums more often and getting involved. Hopefully I can get my shit together and get the ball rolling as usual. I want to aim for more than 2k for next month. I just got to use time management and get my college stuff done first.

| At 200 NL |
[Oct. 10th, 2006|02:50 pm] |
Barrin6 is new and improved but yet a little too late.
I moved on over to Full tilt since Party turn Ghey. Good news, I have rb and now playing under a new cool unique name. Anyways I rocked Full tilt this month pretty damn well. So I might as well include an update since I'm leaving nl 100. But remember, I only have 20 buyins for 200 nl. I'm trying to move up quick just incase poker really does get banned.

I really need to start cranking out some hands. |

| Lets get frisky! |
[Oct. 9th, 2006|03:00 pm] |
I visited Barona again.
Got a called from my buddy that we are going to Barona tonight at midnight. It's the 3 of us, one coming from cal poly for the weekend and the other at a community college. It was a long ass drive down to San Diego, probably 1hr and 20 mins even though we were going 80+ most of the time.
Got there, pretty dead quiet for a friday night. Anyways my 2 buddies jumped into the 1/2 nl max $25 buyin while I jumped onto the nl 1/3 max $300 buyin. The soft beatiful seat occupied my buttocks while I read AIDS FUNDAMENTALS in between the players rambling about thier hands. I looked pretty young, passive and very nerdy while I sat quietly reading my AIDS book while waiting for hands. I had my brown UCI jacket plastered all around when this old man to the left of me commented on how his daughter forgot to turn in her UC apps which left her at ASU.
The gameplay itself was again painfully boring. Thankfully I had my AIDS book to read, while phagocytes and masscells kept my mind off the slowpace. I was playing really tight, probably 3-4 hands for the entire 3 hours I was there.
There was only one hand that night that brought me up. Short Stack limps ($60ish behind), everyone folds to me on cutoff, I reraise and make it $20 to go with my KQs spades. Big blind calls ( asian dude who has been playing really loose and aggressive all night, really loves to slowplay top two pair though against 4 players on the flop).
pot ~$60 Flop comes 256 with 2 of them spades (So I’m thinking monster draw) Big blind leads for $35 (typical) Shortstack goes all in for $44 total My dumb tired self reraises to $73. Big blind calls
Turn comes blank He checks, and I check behind.
River comes an Ace of spades giving me the beautiful nuts. He leads out for $90 against my stone cold nuts I reraise all in for $144
“You got the flush don’t you? I knew you were drawing” He sits back and ponders for a couple mins, while a big hammer is just pounding repeatedly at my chest. I was trying not to smile or laugh at the situation. I should had just pulled out my AIDS book and read while he was thinking, just to mock him. Any way the guy gives out a big sigh and calls my bet. I show my KQ nut flush And he shows AQ. Pair of Aces Man do I love poker. |

| Sept is over |
[Oct. 1st, 2006|03:02 pm] |
Wow did I not get any work done at all this month. I've been so busy with school and moving in that I look away for a week and the bill passes. The impact of this bill on the poker community is yet unknown. All we know is that we have 270 days until it's officially done. Hopefully there will be some legislation problems between the banks and the U.S when they are asked to shut down payments for poker.
Anyways my month have looked bleak.
